Bat Attakk  - We Want To Be Evil Too (2006)we want to be evil too
Bat Attakk's  (hopefully not so) final demo shows that they're getting even better at what they do. The production is great, the styles are very eclectic. It seems that they're getting better and better at songwriting.
The last part of the "A bunch of Toxic Roses"  is pretty heavy yet sounds like it could be a radio ad or maybe a cartoon theme.  "Too Fat To Fly" is full of the amusing  grunts and noises that I loved so much on "Teratophobia", it's catchy and danceable. You've gotta love the chanting of "we want to be evil too".  The song walks the line between ridiculous and genius. Of course, that's probably what got me into this group in the first place. "Clothilde" starts out with a piano intro and  picks up into a faster new wave style song about a guy getting turned into a vampire and how he acquired his castle. The last bit of it has more ridiculous back-up noises. Those sounds never get old to me.
"This is All Vain" has a great drunken sing-along vibe to it.  "Das Polkfafest Des Todes" is the first time I've heard them sing in German. Strange enough, because you probably wouldn't know they're German. Either way, the polkafest of death is a good enough concept, even if i don't have a clue as to what they're saying.  The EP ends with a synth/punk monster of a love song entitled : "I Need A Hug". There's a good chance that this song will dig it's way into your brain and stay there for a while.
The bad news is Bat Attakk are calling it quits, the good news is they're releasing one more demo on their site for free. I got the mp3s before you people, why? I rule, that's why. You'll be able to check this EP out on June 11th 2006. The mp3s and cover art will be available on their official site. Do yourself a favor get to downloading.  They say it's over, but then again what horror movie hasn't? Here's to hoping they resurrect themselves for a sequel.
