Frankenfish
2004I bought this movie expecting a piece of crap, in fact, . i bought the poster for this movie months ago just because i found it funny, I mean, look at that cover art. It's a terrible photoshop job, absolute crap and it looks corny as all hell. i picked up the movie for cheap at blockbuster expecting to MST3K the entire thing. A few minutes into this movie i find myself saying "Please don't like Frankenfish, please don't like Frankenfish", and well, freaking crap. I liked this movie. The acting is okay, the CGI looks like crap, though still better than recent Star Wars movies. But there's something about this movie that made me enjoy it. A lot of people died all bloodily in short order, the characters were pretty much likeable. It was pretty much a low budget cross of Anaconda, Jaws and Jurassic Park. There's some comic relief here or there To sum it up. A big game hunter had some fish genetically engineered for the thrill of it, they were being transported and they ate the people on the boat and made a home in a swamp down in Louisiana. The fish killed someone, a detective goes in there, the fish keep killing, la la la, hunters find out try to kill them. that whole movie. There's a love story and this and that. Lots o' characters, not so believable, but the dude that plays Spike in the Super Mario Bros. movie plays a naked hippie dude who gets decapitated (oooo spoiler). The cover art is misleading, i was expecting certain people to survive the whole movie and what not, so people get slaughtered when you don't really expect it, this is a good thing since modern mainstream horror/whatever is usually predictable as all hell. The death of the giant fish was rather anti-climactic, and the end of the movie was too much of a rip off of Jurassic Park for me, but still...this movie was actually worth a watch and i'm probably gonna watch it again soon. I have a new guilty pleasure.
