The
Devil's Rejects 2005
Brutal, violent, bloody, emotionally involving, funny,
disturbing, you name it this movie really makes you feel it all.
"The Devil's Rejects" is the sequel to "House of 1000 Corpses" but it's
got an entirely different feel. There's plenty of comic relief but
this movie is way more serious than it's predecessor. You don't
necessarily need to see Ho1000c to understand this movie, but you'll
probably have more of an attachment to main characters if you did.
The movie starts out with a gunfight as the police open fire on the
Firefly House, and they're not going to go down without a fight. Otis
and Baby escape and meet up with Capt. Spaulding soon afterwards.
At one point you'll see the family torturing and murdering people for no
reason, then later on you'll see them arguing with each other
about getting ice cream. There are some chilling and extremely violent
scenes though out this movie, none of it is the "safe" kind of violence
that's fun to laugh at. The film doesn't glorify violence, it's there,
it's powerful and really makes the viewer feel it.
It's amazing to see all of the great character actors that Rob
Zombie assembled for this movie. You'll find yourself saying "Holy crap!
that cop played Ed Gein, That whore was in The Warriors! The other whore
does voices on rugrats! That Pimp was the dad on Kenan and Kel!"
and so on. Well, maybe you won't recognize a voice actor, that's not the
point. The point is, rob zombie made what's damn near a perfect movie.
The movies pacing is great, there's not a single moment of boredom,
everything has a purpose.
The biggest problem i've had with this movie is that it kinda ruined
House Of 1000 Corpses for me. The Devil's Rejects is so much more
realistic, everyone seems like they're in the right era, the actors have
a better idea of who their characters are. It was hard for me to go back
and watch the first movie after this. So what else is there to say?
Watch The Devil's Rejects.
