Calabrese 13 Halloweens (2005)![]() I love me some horrorpunk, if you're not into that then you probably won't dig this album so much. The entire album is fast, catchy and entertaining. Songs about zombies, hearses, suicide, shrunken heads sung ever so happily. Sure The Misfits may have done it first, but they're not doing it anymore and so we have to go to the independent bands. Calabrese doesn't disappoint. The album is a little over a half hour long, short enough so that you don't get bored with it. Good production, a few too many horror movie samples for my liking, but then again that just adds to the atmosphere of it, after all horror rock is influenced by, well.. horror. Stand-out tracks include "Death Of Me" which is almost sweet sounding that leads into "One of Us" a short, fast angrier song with a more hardcore punk feel. "Backseat of My Hearse" which has a crazy cool bassline in it, i feel dumb because i didn't get the joke at first. "Blood In My Eyes" a song about Carrie, hey everyone writes about horror movies but at least they didn't repeat the title of the movie as the chorus of the song. "Every Day's A Funeral" which i believe is a love song, either way i've taken to saying "Everyday is a funeral when I'm with you" as a compliment, yeah lame, i know, fuck you. "Phantasmagoria" is a great track to end the album, however they added a ton of space at the end of the song and to plug their fan club, I had someone edit the mp3 for me and burned a copy of the album so that i didn't have to put up with that again, Hidden tracks and such after long spaces tend to irritate me. Either way the song before that is solid. The art work is cool, the album comes in a digipack case or whatever you want to call it, I love those things because it makes you happier for buying the album, instead of saying "oh, i can just burn this booklet" or whatever the hell fagmans say when they try to justify not buying albums. Either way Calabrese are worth checking out.
